It’s Two-Posts Tuesday!
Some of you reading may already be familiar with a health initiative that I became involved with early this past fall called Remix Your Health (RYH, for short). Today, I’d like to re-introduce you to it (or tell you about if for the first time) as a brand new and more focused website has launched!
Here’s a little background on RYH — a friend from college (who’s now a health promotion professional) dreamed up this idea of an interactive, social media-driven health initiative aimed at helping young people take control of their health, and at the same time, help inspire and educate others to lead healthier lives. He posted a few messages to Facebook asking for volunteers to help him develop this project, and I was immediately sucked in. I’m very interested in wellness (especially the food and exercise sides of the equation) and enjoy helping others make healthy adjustments to their daily lives, so this definitely picqued my interest.
When the first Remix Your Health website started, the main idea of it was to be a sort of community blog where multiple authors could write blog posts on whatever health-related topics they wanted. It was a good start, but not very focused in my opinion. So in late November 2010, my friend decided to pull the plug on the site and start anew early this year. Since then, he, another friend of his from grad school, and I have been in the process of developing the new website and concept behind RYH. I think the idea is much more focused now, and will hopefully start to take off in the college circuit in the next few months.
So, without further ado, I give you the new Remix Your Health: www.remixyourhealth.com. The site does take a little while to load (you may need to refresh once…the domain host will get a call tomorrow, hah), but it’s worth checking out. I really can’t think of any other type of health initiative like this one, and that’s what I like about it. Plus, I love college campuses, so if this grows in popularity, it will be fun to be involved on them again.
Make sure to go through all the pages to get the full feel. And please give me some feedback on whether you like it or not! We’re very open to changes. If you like what you see and are on Facebook, please “Like” us or join the group!
